1.Don’t water every day
One your grass has become fully established you do not need to water it every day. In fact, doing so will cause more harm as it leads to shallow roots and weak grass that cant survive summer dry spells and heat without turning brown.
2.Avoid the heat of the day
Watering in the middle of the day is a waste of both water and money because the majority of the water will evaporate long before it can soak into the ground or be used by the grass. Morning watering is best, just before the sun comes up.
3.Dont water when it’s windy
Just as watering in the heat of the day is a waste of money and water, so is running the sprinklers on very windy days. Wind will blow your water everywhere but where you want and need it. It will evaporate before it can do any good.
4.Inspect your irrigation system
You must routinely check the system for leaks and other damages. Inspect the sprinkler heads, pipes, and connections to make sure everything is in working order. This is how to save water while watering your grass and keeping it healthy.
5.Adjust for seasonal needs
Grass has different needs for water spending on the season. You should be watering less in the fall and not at all during the winter. Also consider seasons weather patterns and make sure you are but running the sprinklers when it is raining.
